A Miracle Before Us
For those skeptics and naysayers: God DOES answer prayers, and yes, He is a God who is near and not far away. His lovingkindness is forever and His faithfulness endures. The wisdom of man fails, but the wisdom of God is always proven to be true.
Doctors may think they know the end of the story, they may think their science is the only science, but God is the author of all true science. As Christians, we should not fail to take notice that God is actively at work in our lives to remind us He is there, that He loves us, and that He is worthy of our worship and praise. Today, we must stop and take notice of how He once again has proven Himself to us. Today, we must once again recognize that we are but dust but God is almighty God.
There are probably many definitions of the word “miracle.” I define “miracle” as God acting in the life or lives of people in such a way that man cannot say he did it, or that it occurred naturally. I think we can accurately say a miracle has occurred in the life of Michael Gereaux. Michael is a Sangre de Cristo Seminary graduate and is married to Marie, the daughter of Andrew Zeller, our seminary president, and his wife Bethann. Michael has been in the hospital since April, suffering from Guillain–Barré syndrome, an acute autoimmune disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system and leaves the patient totally paralyzed. As a seminary family, we have been praying fervently for Michael.
Just a few days ago, Michael’s doctors gave a very negative and irresponsible prognosis that Michael would be on a ventilator and bedfast for the rest of his life. But God…has other plans. His ways are not man’s ways and His wisdom is higher than man’s wisdom. Today, we were thrilled to hear Michael speak on his own and for the first time in six months! Sometimes we are given the privilege to see a miracle (see my definition above), but today, we have been given the privilege to hear a miracle. Hear it for yourself:

Sangre de Cristo Journal is a collection of postings about seminary life in the Sangre de Cristo mountains and is not endorsed by the Seminary, although I think they like it. Hopefully it will give prospective students a better feel for what a non-traditional seminary atmosphere is like and provide some meaningful information that the Seminary website does not provide.

Quote of the Week
Trifles Which God Gives
“The emperor Augustus, in his great feasts, gave trifles to some—but gold to his favorites.
Just so—honors, riches and worldly pleasures are the trifles which God gives to the worst of men.
God gives His gold—His special love and grace—only to His people.” - Thomas Brooks Heaven on Earth 1667

I’ll be adding my prayers for Michael as well. We used to be friends with the Zellers when we lived in Leavenworth, Kansas. We have visited Sange de Cristo Seminary and loved being there in God’s majestic mountains worshipping in His presence.
God blessigs to all of you, faculty as well as the Zeller/Gereaux family.
Thank you MaryLu. We feel really blessed to be here and to know such fine people as the Zeller family. God bless you.
