Following Christ at 9,000 ft

Let’s Go Four-wheeling!

Thanks to our daughter Dena, we were able to find a really great deal on a 4WD Ford Explorer to drive on these muddy mountain roads.  We have been concerned about the abuse the roads are putting on our Nissan Altima, so we decided to get something to replace it temporarily.  This is a 1994 limited edition Explorer that has recently had the engine rebuilt, a new front end, new transmission, new brakes and a ton of other fixes.  The guy that had it before us left us all the repair tickets in a folder an inch thick and from looking at the bills, he could have bought a new explorer twice over.

Explorer We’re pretty happy with the deal, and it is a lot of fun to drive.  Now we can take that trek up Hermit Lake Road and see all those beautiful mountain lakes (after the snow melts, that is).

You can see from the picture, we’ve already initiated the truck with that wonderful Colorado mud!  You can also see it is lifted pretty high, so we won’t have too much trouble with clearance.

Hopefully, sometime about mid June or so, I’ll get a chance to really put it through its paces.
